This book chronicles the historical journey of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) from its establishment in the late 19th century until the early 1970s, focusing on the social, cultural, and economic conditions that shaped the immigration and settlement of thousands of Greeks in Australia. The GOCMV remains the oldest institutional representative of the Greek diaspora in Australia, serving as a perennial reference point and rallying point for the community. It represents a familiar form of organization within the Greek diaspora, grounded in national and religious identity.
